A Blend of Traditional & Western Vegetarian Cooking
Our food is a vibrant combination of traditional vegetarian cooking and Western vegetarian favourites. You might enjoy freshly made samosas, vegetable curries and basmati rice, as well as lasagne, nourishing soups and fresh seasonal salads.
Meals are thoughtfully prepared to support your yoga, meditation and retreat practice during your weekend retreat at Lake Isle Retreats, Upper Lough Erne in Northern Ireland.
A Nourishing Breakfast
Breakfast includes home-made sourdough bread, fresh fruit, home-made granola and yoghurt — a wholesome start to a day of yoga, meditation and retreat activities.
Inspired by Yogic & Sattvic Principles
For guests familiar with a yogic or sattvic diet, our kitchen follows traditional principles. We do not use onions, garlic, mushrooms, vinegar or alcohol in our cooking.
This approach aligns with the practices of many hatha and bhakti yogis, supporting clarity, balance and wellbeing during your retreat.
In Ayurveda, some of these ingredients may be used for specific therapeutic purposes. However, they are not generally included in traditional hatha or bhakti yogic diets. Many guests are pleasantly surprised by how rich, flavourful and satisfying this style of cooking can be.

Seasonal & Garden-Grown
We are fortunate to grow some of our own produce here at Lake Isle Retreats, near Upper Lough Erne. During the growing season, we use organic vegetables from our garden, including potatoes, carrots, courgettes, sweetcorn, tomatoes, beetroot, cucumbers, French beans and fresh herbs.
Fresh, nourishing vegetarian meals are an important part of the experience at our retreat centre in Ireland, and we hope the food becomes one of the quiet highlights of your weekend.
