Meditation with Tim. Silent meditation, Kirtan relaxation ******** Introduction to Japa meditation. Japa is the soft personal chanting of mantra, generally using wooden chanting beads. It is a daily practise of monks. This meditation assists oneself with mindfulness practise. Focusing and paying attention to the holy sound brings a sense of peace and contentment. We use two mantras on this retreat, the Harey Krishna maha-mantra, and the most commonly used mantra in Tibetan Buddhism. |

Wake up call. First activity of the day for all monks is to have a shower. |

Japa Meditation - talk and discussion, followed by japa meditation. |

Leave for boat trip to island and visit temple using the temple's ferry boat. The crossing takes 4-minutes. Greeting of the Deities in Temple (some spiritual music arranged by the famous musician George Harrison is played during a short meditation, followed by sacred chant music) |

Temple morning lecture with Gaura Nitai Das based on ancient Vedic texts |
8.30 am |
Mindfulness walk around the forest track on the island - either walking in silence, or quietly murmuring mantras in japa meditation |

Return to the mainland |

Practical work, like working on the land weeding and helping in the production of organic vegetables, filling pot-holes on the gravel road, etc. |

Depart (by walking) for an adventure walk in the local Reilly Forest. Either walking boots or wellies are required, as we go off-track into the wilderness. |
