Ayurveda, the ancient Vedic health system recommends massage and therapies as a being beneficial to one's health -  even for monks!  So various aromatherapy massages, Indian head massage, sound therapy, etc are available by appointment. See here for details. €35 for 50-mins. We recommend early arrival for this.

Meditation with Tim. Silent meditation, Kirtan relaxation

Introduction to Japa meditation. Japa is the soft personal chanting of mantra, generally using
wooden chanting beads.
It is a daily practise of monks. This meditation assists oneself with mindfulness practise. Focusing and paying attention to the holy sound brings a sense of peace and contentment.

We recommend you go to bed early. ​
​Saturday
    
5.30 am
​Wake up bell, followed by japa-yoga: meditation from 6.00am, using sacred wooden mantra beads.
6.35 am
Leave for ferry trip to island and visit temple using the temple's ferry boat. The crossing takes 4-minutes.
 7.00 am
Greeting of the Deities in Temple (some spiritual music arranged by the famous musician George Harrison is played during a short meditation, followed by sacred chant music)
7.30 am
Temple morning lecture based on ancient Vedic texts  
 8.20 am
We will be doing some Meditation Walking with japa beads around the forest track on the island
9.45 am
 Breakfast, followed by a Rest period back at the retreat house
12.00 pm
Practical work, like working on the land weeding and helping in the production of organic vegetables

Depart for the Killeshandra forest park walk.
30 mins of this 1-hour 15 mins walk will be dedicated to japa walking meditation.
5.15 pm
Arrive back at retreat centre
6.00 pm
Return from the walks, relax, chat, massages, etc. Dinner available from 6.45pm.
Sunday
 
    
 Early morning: time to reflect, read, explore outdoors, meditate or chant on beads - as you wish.
8.30 am
Hatha-Yoga .... yoga exercises for health and well-being. Suitable for beginners.
9.50 am
Breakfast
11.00 am
Meditative Visualization with Tim
12.10 pm
Cross to island for temple sacred chant music and just to relax on the island. This is the normal day-visiting time for visitors in any week.
1.00 pm
(Optional) Talk on Vedic wisdom and philosophy open to the general public. You're welcome to go for a walk around the island during all or part of this period.
2.00 pm
The Sunday Feast in the Temple - a unique cultural experience (and the food is pretty good also!)
3.00 pm
Ferry Departure back to the mainland, and end of retreat

  • £140 (Sterling) or €160 (Euro) per person in shared accommodation
  • £175 or €200 single room  
  • Option to stay Sunday night for €35 / £30
