Vastu

This weekend retreat features something new to Lake Isle Retreats - two presentations about Vastu

Vastu_1

Origins

The great science of Vastu, the art of making your home in harmony with nature's laws, originated in India millennia ago. Vastu is part of the Stapatya Veda, a section of the Atharva Veda - one of the four principal Vedas (circa. 3200BC). The Vedas are the oldest writings on India's ancient history, science, philosophy and culture. These writings consist of millions of Sanskrit verses.

What Vastu can do for you...

The Vedic texts, including Vastu, see the universe as place with a purpose. Each living being exists for a purpose in a specially designed universe that has it's own Laws of Nature. When a person establishes a home or work-place for a purpose he or she is creating a mini-universe within the greater universe. Therefore s/he should design his or her living space following certain principles in line with the greater earth and cosmos.

So Vastu shows how one can further his own health, wealth and happiness by designing with universal forces, rather then against them. Here is an example - Vastu advises that one shouldn't sleep with ones head to the North: a subtle effect of the Earth's magnetic field is disturbing to sleep.
