Attractions of County Fermanagh

Devenish Island (see photos below) is one of the original monastic islands on Lough Erne. From as early as the fifth Century AD, communities of monks began to establish settlements on the lake. By the seventh century there were five thriving monasteries, of which Devenish was prominent.
